I was 10 when my Mom took me to see Gloria Steinem at Michigan State University and I’ve never forgotten how grown up I felt that one evening. My lovely daughter is the same age as I was and full of big beautiful dreams. What a perfect time to be 10.
Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming after all is a form of planning.

**Photography share (pic’s above shot with my Canon 5DMarkII and a 50 1.4 lens) – I didn’t use actions or retouching. The first thing to do is find the good light. I love natural light so I had her stand with her back to the sun and I shot into the sun with her blocking it to some degree. Also, her eyes and face can relax with her back to the sun. I love a light airy ethereal look, it’s my style so I’m always searching for that type of light. I up the brightness in lightroom a few notches and sharpened the eyes a bit in photoshop (still learning lightroom). I watched this awesome video from Mastin Studio about creating a film look in lightroom. I’ve learned over the years that I don’t need actions to produce the look I want. The light airy film look is what I like and it’s what I’m drawn too. I love when you can look at a photo and almost see inside the person, like capturing a soul at a precise moment in time. I strive to achieve that honest moment in my work. I used to be such a fast shooter and now I wait and wait for it. I pretend I have film in the camera and only have a few shots left it’s fun playing mind games with myself. I have a film camera and film is what I used to take photography classes in college. I love playing with that also although I enjoy the ease of digital but love the look of film. I continue to learn and play and grow. I never want to stop learning but I love knowing my style and what works for me. Just wanted to share:) Have a happy day.
